Kimberlee's on deck

By Leslie Katz
Of The Examiner Staff

Formerly of Santa Clara and now of Southern California, the one-named Kimberlee will be back in the Bay Area next week to sing the National Anthem on Independence Day (that's Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.) before the A's-Angels game at Network Associates Coliseum in Oakland.

This isn't Kimberlee's first anthem gig; she's also opened for the Warriors, Kings, Sharks, Giants and both the U.S. and Special Olympics.

The singer-songwriter (and also intrepid publicist; her press packet was the most complete I've ever seen) is taking a break from a tour of Borders bookstores (don't laugh, Kristin Hersh of Throwing Muses did it!) promoting her debut, self-released album, "Learning How To Love." It's a good listen. Kimberlee plays acoustic guitar and sings a mix of bluesy folk that leans a little more toward blues. Visit www.kimberlee.com.
